Relying On Our Creator

“Like St. Francis, God will very often call us out of our comfort zones in life. It is in such situations, where we feel inept, incompetent, and afraid, that we must rely on God to do what we cannot.”

Joseph Mary Elder

How often have I felt this way—inept, unqualified, and unsure of my capabilities? I have experienced these feelings many times throughout my life. Then, I remind myself that this is probably how the apostles felt as well, perhaps even the saints. Despite their doubts, they managed to accomplish so much—not only for the people of their own time but also for generations that followed, including ours. What was their secret? It’s not a secret at all—they placed their complete trust and reliance solely on God!

All we need to do is to look into the life and teachings found in the Bible. Beyond the gift of His Son, the Bible stands as one of the greatest and most precious gifts we have received from our Creator. It offers guidance, wisdom, and hope to all who seek it. I have learned to surrender gradually over time. It’s not always easy, especially if you are a recovering perfectionist like me! However, with each passing day and through every tough decision, as well as all the trials and tribulations I face, I begin to understand more and more deeply that God’s way is definitely not the same as ours. He gently reminds us, and reminds me personally, that He is an inseparable part of it all. From the very moment I was created, we became a package deal—my everything, my all, intertwined with His presence. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. -Romans 8:28

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 121:3

He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber.

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

And so I will end with this: When we are struggling, feeling defeated, helpless, and less than whole, we must rely on our Creator. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend solely on your own understanding. Seek His will in every aspect of your life, and He will faithfully guide you, revealing the path you should take. - Proverbs 3:5-6

Keep at it!

Keep praying. Love the Lord.

Peace and Grace.
