Dinner with the Saints

Welcome Saint Cecilia to the table!

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Welcome Saint Cecilia to the table!

St. Cecilia was a Roman noblewoman living in the 3rd century so What’s for dinner?

Since pork was the most common and favored meat among the wealthy in Ancient Rome, we will be enjoying a dish called Ancient Roman Pork Laureate. This will be accompanied by a carefully selected assortment of roasted vegetables, including tender asparagus, earthy mushrooms, and flavorful leeks. Additionally, we will serve a freshly baked loaf of white bread alongside roasted figs drizzled with honey, all to be savored with a glass of fine wine.

Buon appetito!

I love music deeply, so this dinner with the saints will include several meaningful components. It is especially fitting to invite St. Cecilia to the table, as she is, after all, the patron saint of music and musicians. Her presence will surely inspire a harmonious and joyful atmosphere during our gathering. Legend says she sang to God in her heart during her forced wedding while instruments played. This story links her to music, and she is often shown in art with instruments like the organ or violin. Many music pieces have been made to honor her.

This blog will be very interactive and engaging, as I am including a captivating and heartfelt video of her story as told by St. Don Bosco, accompanied by Herbert Howells' beautiful and moving composition, A Hymn for St Cecilia (with text), performed at the magnificent Winchester Cathedral. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a proper dinner with the saints without sharing a delicious recipe to bring the experience to life!
