A beautiful Franciscan sister said to me, “Can you get any busier?”
And that got me thinking—and y’all know how dangerous that can be! LOL.
For as long as I can remember, I have been busy. And in that busyness, I learned to juggle—responsibilities, commitments, and the things I wanted to do alongside the things I felt I had to do.
But keeping everything in the air does not necessarily mean I am balanced.
Her question stayed with me. I am working hard to live with greater intention: to be thoughtful about what I choose to do, what I work on, and what I become part of. I want to give each yes the time, care, and presence it deserves.
I want what I do to inspire. And I am learning that inspiration needs room to breathe.
Perhaps balance begins with listening—to God, to my own limits, and to the needs of the present moment. There are times to move forward, times to retreat and be renewed, and times to be still without rushing to fill the silence.
I am still learning. Some days, I slip back into juggling. But more and more, I am pausing to ask: Lord, where are You calling me to give myself today?
And sometimes, the answer may be to rest in His presence and let that be enough.
This week, I invite you to pause with me before saying yes to one more thing. Ask yourself: Do I have the time and space to give this my presence? What is prompting my yes?
Then choose one small step toward balance: make room for something meaningful, step back from a commitment, or spend a few quiet minutes with God.
Lord, help us recognize when to move forward, when to retreat, and when to be still.
