You Belong Here
Matt Maher Concert was more than a concert it was a witness!
Last weekend the Diocese of Charlotte celebrated the Eucharistic Congress in the Charlotte Convention Center where over 14,000 Catholic faithful attended! This years theme was You Belong Here! It was a work weekend and also my birthday. What better way to give thanks to the Lord for another year of life than to spend it with him in Eucharsitic adoration and procession.
Growing up, the church has always been a true haven and source of comfort for me. I always felt a deep sense of belonging and peace within its walls. As I stood there, watching the Eucharistic procession and capturing photographs, Bishop Martin led the procession with quiet reverence. Behind him, thousands of faithful representatives from numerous parishes and ministries proudly held up their colorful banners, singing hymns with joyful voices. As the Monstrance drew near with Jesus in the Eucharist, it was as if both angels and people alike fell to their knees in profound reverence; the entire space was so still you could hear a pin drop. What a beautiful and sacred dance this was to witness. We all, indeed, are fully known and fully loved by God, a truth that deeply informs and shapes each individual's unique place within the larger, unfolding divine plan.
This reality grounds us in a profound and intimate connection with Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity, which continually serves as a constant and unwavering source of grace, healing, and spiritual renewal. These blessings are especially experienced through the sacraments, notably the Eucharist and Reconciliation, which continuously nurture and sustain our faith journey, fostering a deeper connection within the community. What a truly wonderful witness and heartfelt affirmation of faith this is! It serves as an inspiring example of devotion and commitment. It is my sincere hope that the energy and fervor experienced last weekend will continue to burn brightly in every parish, home, and workplace, fueled by the powerful fire of the Holy Spirit. A heartfelt shout-out to all those who work at the Diocese and to the dedicated volunteers whose efforts made this beautiful event possible—kudos to each and every one of you! Looking forward with anticipation until we gather again next year.
